Directions for Connecting Data Projectors to a CPU and Using the Projectors

Connecting a Data Projector to a Desktop PC

  1. Find a suitable place for the Data Projector and plug it in.
  2. Plug in the data projector cable to the Multiport Splitter/Converter Box that is attached to the teacher PC.
  3. Connect the other end of the cable to the data projector.

Using the Data Projector

Powering On

  1. Turn on the main power switch either in the rear or side of the data projector depending on which model you have as indicated in the example picture below. This Power switch does not project the lamp to the screen, it only gets the projector ready for projection.

Projecting to a Screen or Wall

  1. Press the On/Off button on top of the projector (similar to the picture below). This will start the projection.

  • Make sure the Lens cap is off the Lens.
  • The projector will take a few seconds to warm up and you will probably see, projected on the wall, a countdown from 20 or so.
  • After the countdown the projector will take a few seconds to communicate with the CPU and then it will project what is on your screen.
  • If Projection is not working check all connections and then call the help desk.

Adjusting the Height of the Data Projector

  1. To adjust the height of the Projector, adjust the legs on the bottom of the projector similar to the picture below. You may have to adjust with a book under the legs also for additional height.

Focusing the Projection

  1. To Focus the Picture press the Zoom\Focus Button for older models. This is a toggle switch and you will notice that the Projection screen will switch between Zoom and Focus. Make sure Focus is selected. Refer to Picture below.
  2. After selecting Focus press the Point Up\Down arrow to focus the picture. Refer to the picture below.
  3. After focusing leave buttons alone, Focus will disappear from the screen.
  4. For other newer models without a Focus or Focus/Zoom button feature manually zoom and focus the lens by hand.

IMPORTANT NOTE about Computer Resolution:

On the older Eiki data projectors (the big ones-- LC7000UE models) make sure you change the display resolution on your computer to 800 x 600 for acceptable picture quality -- those models cannot handle higher resolutions.  This is done in the “display setting” area in Windows, located in the “Control Panel” from the “Start Menu”.

Zooming the Projection for Screen Size

  1. To Zoom the Picture on older models, for the proper screen Size, press the Zoom\Focus Button. This is a toggle switch and you will notice that the Projection screen will switch between Zoom and Focus. Make sure Zoom is selected. Refer to Picture below.
  2. After selecting Zoom press the Point Up\Down arrow to Zoom the picture for the screen. Refer to the picture below.
  3. After Zooming leave buttons alone; Zoom will disappear from the screen.
  4. For other newer models without a Focus or Focus/Zoom button feature manually zoom and focus the lens by hand.

Powering Off the Projector

  1. Turn off the Projector by pressing the On\Off button. The screen will prompt you with "Power Off?". Press the On\Off button again and this will stop the projection.
    • DO NOT turn the projector off with the Main power switch. This will not allow the lamp to cool down and could cause the lamp to burn out.
  2. Notice that on some models the Lamp Light is RED and the Ready Light is not on, on top of the Projector. Wait for the Ready lamp to turn Green. Once this happens you will hear the fan shut off. The Lamp light will remain Red and this okay, just wait for the Ready light to be Green.
  3. Once the Ready light is Green you may now turn the projector off with the Main power switch on the back of the projector.
