Voice Mail Features with Lucent Technologies

The size (in seconds) of your v-mailbox is 1200.  The maximum length of a recorded greeting for your voice mailbox is 300 seconds.  The maximum length of a recorded message (i.e., the v-mail left by a caller)  is 120 seconds.  The caller will get a "end of message" warning about 15 seconds before they hit the maximum length.

Messages remain for 7 days after which they are deleted permanently with no option to restore.  Please contact the Help Desk if you forget your v-mailbox password or you accidentally lock your v-mailbox.


How to dial into the voicemail system:

8410D

8403B

OR



  • On the 8410D (the phones with a display), press Menu button and then the button for AD1 (i.e., the first button above Menu).
  • On the 8403B (the phones without a display), press the Feature button and then 1.

OR

  • Dial your voice messaging number: 3333
  • Enter your extension or
  • Dial # if calling from your own phone
  • Enter your password
  • The first time you access the voicemail system, your password should be: #

How to record your voicemail greetings:






  • After dialing into the system,
  • Press 3 for your personal greeting
  • You will hear the number of your greeting(s) in use
  • Press 1 to Change/Create/Delete a Greeting
  • You will be prompted to enter the Greeting # you wish to Create or Alter
  • You will then be prompted to record your greeting
  • Press 1 to stop recording
  • If you wish, press 23 to play back your message
  • When you are finished, press # to approve your message
  • Or, press *3 to delete the message
  • Please do not forget to activate your message!

How to activate your message



  • After dialing into the system,
  • Press 3 to create your personal greeting
  • You will hear the number of your greeting(s) in use
  • Press 3 to active a greeting
  • You will be prompted to enter the greeting number you wish to activate.
  • Press the # to finish.

How to change your password:







  • After dialing into the system,
  • Press 5
  • You will hear a list of options, press 4 to change your password
  • You will be prompted to enter a new password
  • After entering your new password, press #
  • You will be prompted to re-enter your password
  • Press # once you have entered it.

How to access and listen to your voicemail messages:


  • After dialing into the voicemail system,
  • Press 2
  • You will hear a summary of your messages
  • Press 0 to listen
  • Play options are available

How to respond to your voicemail messages:


OR
  • After listening to the message
  • Press 1 to respond, then
  • Press 7 to reply without a copy of the original message or
  • Press 19 to reply with a copy of the original message
  • You will be prompted to leave a message.

How to forward your voicemail messages:


  • After listening to the message,
  • Press 1 to respond, then
  • Press 2 to forward

How to record and send messages:















  • After dialing into the system,
  • Press 1
  • You will be prompted to record your message
  • If you wish, press 23 to play back your message
  • When you are finished, press # to approve your message
  • Or, press *3 to delete the message
  • You will then be prompted to enter the recipient's name or extension
  • Press # after entering the destination




Options include:

  • You may press 1 to specify the message as private
  • You may press 2 to specify the message as a priority
  • You may press 3 to schedule a specific delivery time
  • You may press 4 if you wish the file a copy of the message.
  • When your options are set, then press # to send the message


How to customize your message for internal and external calls (or administering call types)





Note: you must have at least 2 - 3 recordings which you can identify as internal, external or busy/out of office hours.
  • After dialing into the system,
  • Press 3
  • Press 4 to administer call types
  • To identify calls as internal and external, press 1 or 2 for busy/out of office hours.

How to transfer a person directly into another person's voicemail





  • After receiving the call, press the transfer button
  • Enter the extension of the appropriate person
  • Press #
  • Quickly, press the transfer button a second time and your call will be transferred.
