OmniPage Pro 9.0 (Scanning Text Documents)
Back to Hardware Tutorials
Note:
OmniPage Pro is used to scan a document
in that has text. This
could be a Word document that you only have in hard
copy form and you want to have it back
in soft copy.
- Place
document on Scanner bed or in document
feeder that we have in the Library.
- Choose
Start, Programs, and Room Specific Software.
- Double
click on OmniPage Pro Icon.
- Once
OmniPage Pro opens you will click on the OCR
wizard button.

- You will now be walked thru 6 steps of the OCR
scanning process.
-
Step 1
- This
step will allow you to scan your picture
in different color modes.
Since this is usually text the first option
is fine.
- Choose
the third option if you have any color
text or graphics.

-
Step 2
- Second
step allows you to choose the format that your
text is in. Choosing
the last option allows OmniPage do it
for you.
- Choose
Spreadsheet for Excel documents or tables.
- Mixed
Page Layout, or last option should
be standard choice.

-
Step 3
- Choose
the language you are scanning in.

-
Step 4
- This
will allow you to retain all the formatting
and fonts from the document to be scanned,
or not to keep it.
- 2nd
choice is the default and the best option.

-
Step 5
- Will
Proofread the document for you.
- Make
sure you do this.
The Scanner might interrupt a letter
b for a letter d.
- The
OCR proof ruins just like a spell
checker.

- Step
6
- This
option will allow you save the file
to a diskette, your personal drive, or even just copy
it to the clipboard.
- The
first option is the best, because then you
can save the document as a MS Office file.

- OmniPage
will then start to scan your pages in and
then perform the OCR proofread.
- Once
the Proofread is done you will be asked to save
the document you scanned.
- Save
the document to the drive you wish.
- Make
sure under Save As type you have the file type
you wish to save the file as,
example MS Word.

- Close
OmniPage Pro when finished.
- Open
Document you just scanned in the program you
save it as to check for any errors or formatting
that you might have to correct.
