Cary Academy File Quota Storage Policy
Cary
Academy recognizes that students have the right to store
information in their personal folder on the network, called
U: drive, have adequate storage for Web Pages, storage for
E-mail and being able to send files as attachments.
Based on Cary Academy’s current network
configuration and future enrollment needs we will have a
quota placed on personal folders, U: drive, Personal Web
Page storage, E-mail storage and sending files as
attachments. The
policies below state what type of quota system will be put
into place.
1)
Personal Folder or U: drive, will be limited to
200-MB (megabytes) of storage space.
a)
A system message will be sent to anyone who reaches
80% of this storage, which will give a person adequate
time to review what they have saved and decide if it is
still of use.
b)
If a person exceeds their 100-MB of storage space
then the system will send a message stating that you have
exceeded your storage limitation and until files are
deleted, you will not be allowed to save or update any more
data.
c)
If a student feels they need more space than what
is provided and all the files they have stored are being
used for legitimate purposes, then they must see their
advisor and state why they require the extra storage space.
Once the student and the advisor agree more space is
needed for that student the request will be submitted to the
IS department for approval.
2)
Web pages will have a maximum of 50-MB (megabytes)
of storage space.
a)
A system message will be sent notifying a person if
they have reached 80% of the 50-MB storage capacity so
that person will have time to review their Web Page and make
any adequate adjustments to decrease the size of your Web
Page.
b)
If a person exceeds their 50-MB of storage space
then the system will send a message stating that you have
exceeded your storage limitation and until files are
deleted, you will not be allowed to save or update any more
data.
c)
If a student feels that they should have more space
allocated for their web page, they must see their advisor
and state the reasons why. Once the student and the advisor
agree more space is needed for that student the request will
be submitted to the IS department for approval.
