KeyboardThe Internet has become part of our lives.  It serves as one of the best sources for research, recreation, news, and entertainment.

The population using the Internet has much of the same diversity as the population in general. This includes those who might take advantage of a student's openness and naiveté. While children and teenagers should not be afraid of using the Internet, they should exercise the same caution as they would in any situation where there are strangers.

This site is designed to provide you with an overview of safety issues facing parents and students.  There are literally hundreds of sites which provide detailed information.  In each of our sections and in the Resources section, we provide links to some of the best sites on privacy, blocking and filtering software, safe use of e-mail, and related topics.

This web site was created in support of fam.net 2000, an educational program presented for Cary Academy parents.  The authors are Randy Mullis, Bill McKeown, Eric Wildenberg, Dan Squillace, Tracy Ansley, Rick Harris, Keith Posey and Brodie Whiteside.

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
