Letter from The Middle School Head
Back to Parent Monthly News

Dear Parents,

With beautiful spring weather abounding and having passed the mid-point of the third trimester, we now look forward to the remaining six weeks of school and upcoming May activities.   Be sure to mark your calendars because there is a lot going on!

·         8th Grade Parent/Student/Advisor conferences are Thursday, May 1st and Friday, May 2nd (no classes for 8th grade students).  Please remember that students are expected to attend these conferences unless an advisor has specifically notified you otherwise.

·         The Middle School Charger Cup Challenge is Friday, May 9th.  Keep your fingers crossed for good weather.

·         Educational Record Bureau’s (ERB’s) standardized tests will be administered to all middle school students May 13-16th.   Please help us provide optimal testing conditions by ensuring that your child has a good night’s rest, an adequate breakfast, and arrives at school on time.

·         Middle School band students will perform their "Pops on the Quad" concert on Thursday, May 8th at 6 pm on the Quad.

·         Middle School chorus students will perform their spring concert on May 15th at 7 pm in the Theatre.

·         May 23rd is a half day due to Commencement, and there is no school on May 26th in observance of Memorial Day.

·         Seventh grade students look forward to May 28th and the annual end-of-year trip to Black Mountain.

·         The eighth grade students will take their end-of-year trip to Pamplin Park and Busch Gardens on May 29st.  Following the trip, they will begin rehearsing for Celebration.  The special ceremony takes on June 6th.

·         For planning purposes please be reminded that the last day of school for sixth and seventh grade students is June 5th.

In spite of the rainy weather over the past few weeks, our middle school sports teams have been doing very well this season, particularly the girls’ Gold soccer, boys’ tennis, and baseball teams.  We anticipate strong results in the Triangle Middle School Conference.

Have a great month!

Sincerely,

Marti Jenkins
Head of Middle School
