Cary
Academy’s
2nd annual
‘Kids Feeding Kids’
March 31- April 4
Did you know that more than
80,000 children in the Triangle
qualify for free and reduced lunch programs during the
school year?
What do they do when school is not in session?
GO
HUNGRY?
Cary Academy
& the Food
Shuttle
believe that no child living in the Triangle should go
hungry.
The CA community will be collecting kid-friendly food
for the Food Shuttle’s
BackPack Buddies program,
Monday, March 31
– Friday, April 4th.
The Back Pack Program provides backpacks filled with
child-friendly, nutritious food to needy children in our
area over the weekend and during holiday breaks and
year-round school breaks.
Watch for CA students handing out the collection
bags in carpool lines!
The following foods are needed for each backpack:
·
Shelf-stable fruit cups and applesauce
·
Canned fruits and vegetables
·
Canned meats and fish
·
Meat-based soups and stews
·
Shelf-stable milk
·
Cereal, grits and oatmeal
·
Healthy snacks, such as graham crackers, dried fruit,
and granola bars
·
100% juice
(in cans, boxes, or plastic bottles)
·
Microwaveable shelf-stable meals
(e.g., Easy Mac)
