June Newsletter - Head of Upper School

The Final Weeks

May was certainly a whirlwind of activity as upperclassmen wrote AP exams, students competed in state championships and the Men’s Tennis team captured our first male state championship. Following Commencement, over 200 students and faculty left for exchange trips in Ecuador, Spain, France, Austria and China. If you would like to follow their blogs, go to the following link. Final Academic and Advisor Reports
Each year we make a concerted effort to reduce the use of paper and mailing costs by posting information on the web and sending emails.
Final Academic and Advisor Reports will be posted for each student by June 20.

Please review the final report for completeness and accuracy.  Please remember that each trimester counts as 2/7 of the year grade while the exam counts as 1/7.  Year-long courses without exams, and two trimester courses, have the trimesters weighted equally.  If you feel an error or omission has been made, please email the teacher, Eric Bondy, and Carol Akers. We will address your concern over the summer if we can, but certainly when the school re-opens in August.

Student Schedules for 2008-09
The Master Schedule for 2008-09 is complete and students were given a list of courses they have been enrolled in for next year. By June 4, this same information will be available through a link sent to parents and students by the Business Office.  Schedules that include class locations, times and teachers will be provided to students when the new academic year begins.

Textbooks
By June 4, the Business Office will email and post US textbook purchasing information for the upcoming year. Summer readings are also listed here. I recommend you review the information upon receipt and begin the book purchasing process.

Important Dates and US Summer Mailing
Key dates will soon be sent by the Business Office and by July 14, I will send an email providing more detail about orientation for new students, new parent tablet training and opening day.

I wish to thank faculty, staff, parents and students who made this year such a success.  You all deserve to recharge your batteries. I wish you all a wonderful summer. I look forward to seeing you in the fall.
