Letter from The Middle School Head
Back to Parent
Monthly News
Dear Parents,
Warmer temperatures and end-of-year trips to Black Mountain
and the Pamplin Historic Center confirm that the end of
school is quickly drawing near.
As we make final preparations
to bid adieux to the eighth grade class and to welcome in a
new sixth grade class, we can look back and reflect upon a
wonderful school year full of interesting and meaningful
learning experiences.
With the guidance and support of a dedicated and
caring faculty and staff, your sons and daughters have grown
academically, physically, artistically and socially.
They are prepared to move to the next grade level and
are very ready for a well-deserved summer break!
By now, returning students will have received from their
language arts teachers a letter outlining the summer
reading requirements, a copy of the required book, and a
copy of the summer reading list from which they will pick
other books of choice.
New students will receive these items by mail.
Third trimester grades will be posted on the web
during the week of June 16th and hard copies will
be mailed later.
Also, supply lists
will be made available via the web as will information
regarding text purchases.
Next year’s schedules will be distributed to students
on August 13th as part of opening day
orientation activities.
For planning purposes, please note that Meet the
Team Night is scheduled for Thursday, August 7th.
For incoming sixth graders,
please note that
their orientation will take place the morning of
August 12th.
As always, many thanks to those of you who have
graciously given time and support to the various activities
at the middle school this year.
The faculty, staff, and I greatly appreciate your
efforts in helping us provide a meaningful and quality
educational experience for your children.
A special thanks to PTAA parent representatives, Sue
Haberberger and Karen Green, for their energetic leadership.
Thanks also for the positive feedback and
suggestions regarding the middle school program – please
keep it coming! Your input is extremely valuable as we look
forward and plan for upcoming years.
I hope you and your family enjoy a healthy, happy,
and relaxing summer!
Sincerely,
Marti Jenkins
