I am writing this letter to let you know that we will have a music festival trip to NYC in next April. Please read the letter bellow and let me know your final decision ASAP. Educational Goals of Trip (including any curricular tie-in): Have the students on the educational tour in the New York City; they experience history, cultural, language, art, geography firsthand and especially the music in the city. Lessons take on new meaning and perspectives are changed as you explore together. And, when we return, the excitement follows us back to the classroom-the students will know that there is a world of possibilities out there. Trip Dates: April 13 (Friday) to 16 (Monday), 2007 Grade Level(s) of Student Participants: 6 to 12 Mode of Transportation: Flight Middle town hotel: Sheraton of Manhattan 790 7th Ave. NY NY 10019. Estimated Cost (trip fee): Festival and airfare: $735 Optional activity fees: $50~$100 April 13, Fri. Morning Fly to NYC arrival and get everything ready for rehearsal in hotel. April 14, Sat. Morning Music Festival in Riverside Church Afternoon 1. Lincoln Center Tour-Metropolitan Opera House, Avery Fisher Hall, NY State Theater… ($13 per student) 2. Carnegie Hall Tour-Discover century-plus performance traditions that have showcased the finest of the world's artists including Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Horowitz, & even the Beatles... ($10.50 per student) Evening 1. Awards Ceremony at Riverside Church. 2. Dinner cruise aboard the Circle line Cruise around Manhattan Island. April 15. Sun Morning Metropolitan Museum of Art-Spans the history of world art. Hundreds of world-famous masterpieces… ($10.00 per student) Afternoon Middle town sightseeing Evening NY symphony or Broadway show ($45-65 per person) optional. April 16, Mon. Morning Check out of hotel and Chaperon group tour: 1. Sounds of the city tour-designed to enhance Band, orchestra & choral experience ($14.00 per student) 2. Radio city music hall tour- art deco landmark, Rockettes, mighty Wurlitzer organ and 3- ton contour curtain behind- the-scenes… ($20.00 per student) 3. Empire State Building-World renowned, Landmark attraction. ($16.00 per student) 4. United Nations-General Assembly Hall, Council Chambers, works of art from member nations… ($11.50 per student) Afternoon Fly back home Anticipated Program of Activities: 1.Festival competition 2.Awards Ceremony at Riverside Church; Dinner cruise aboard the Circle line Cruise around Manhattan Island 3.Tours to Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and Metropolitan Museum of Art. You might need to pay $30 for the chaperon who supervises you during the festival.
