The Starfish Story (my interpretation)
A man strolled onto the beach and saw a boy in the distance repeatedly throwing things the man could not identify, into the ocean. He strode quickly towards the boy while shouting, "Boy! What are you doing?"
The boy looked up and smiled at the man approaching him. "I'm tossing this starfish back into the sea."
The man looked about and realized there were probably hundreds and hundreds of starfish washed onto the shore. "That's ridiculous!" the man insisted. "There are far too many stranded starfish for you to save. What difference can a boy like you make in a situation like this?"
The boy hesitated for a moment and looked at the starfish in his hand. "I guess it makes a difference to this one," he smiled as he continued gently tossing starfish, one by one, back into the sea.
