How to prepare students for video projects in Multimedia Center (MMC)
Image preparation:
- If students download images from the web to use in their video, the
images should be no smaller than 300 pixels in the smallest dimension. The
downloaded images should be saved to their their tablets or home
computer and put on a jump drive to transfer to a Multimedia Center PC. When
they come to the MMC, they will move them to the E drive on the MMC computer.
They should not save them in Word.
- Before coming to the MMC, students should view their images in
Photoshop and make adjustments to levels. With the new version of
Premiere Pro 2.0 it is no longer necessary to resize the images.. The
ideal size is 720 pixels wide by 480 pixels high.
Documents & email:
- Microsoft Word and Outlook are not available on the MMC computers. So any work that is in
a Word document will have to be opened in Wordpad.
- Students will not be able to email documents and files to and from the MMC computers, so they
need to have all documents and files on their U drives--not in email.
Personal still cameras, video cameras and flash drives:
- The computers in the MMC are designed to capture still pictures and videos in very restricted ways.
Students who want to take still and video pictures with personal cameras need to verify that the
images can be captured on the MMC computers.
- USB captures from still or video cameras will probably not work.
- USB Flash drives (sometimes called jump drives) may not work. Students should not depend on
these devices to bring files to the MMC. If they have to use jump drives to get files from home,
they should upload them to another school computer and then onto their U drive before coming to the MMC.
- If students plan to capture video on their tablets, prior to coming to the MMC, they should check that
they will be able to transfer the video to the MMC computers.
