How to Frame Grab

There are many times when you will want to get a still image from a single frame in a video.  To do this, you will use the Adobe product called Premiere Pro 2.0.

Settings:

Start Premiere Pro 2.0 from the desktop icon or from the Start menu. When Premiere starts up, it may ask what Project Settings you want. If it does, set your project to CA Project Preset.

Finding the Source Video:

Start by going to FilečImportčFile. Find the video file from which you want to get the still image.  When you have selected the file it will appear in Premiere’s Project Window. Drag the film strip icon from the Project Window to the Timeline and drop it onto one of the video tracks of the timeline.

Finding the Frame:

You will now step through the video you have Imported to find the frame that you wish to grab. Click on the ruler area of the timeline (where there are numbers like 0:00:00:24) and drag the blue timeline cursor left and right through the video. You should see images of the video on the Monitor Window. You can scroll back and forth thru the video until you find the image that you wish to grab. Then follow these steps:

1.                  Choose FilečExport TimelinečFrame.

2.                  Click Settings.

3.                  Choose Windows Bitmap as the File Type.

4.                  Specify a location and filename, and then click OK.

Repeat these steps if you want to grab more frames.

When you have finished, exit from Premiere. You do not need to save the project.
