TO RECORD

1. Open Audacity

2. Select microphone from input source drop down menu

3. Check and set microphone level with input volume slider

4. Record (circle button) and Stop (square button)

5. Playback (triangle button)  immediately if desired.  Otherwise edit and save

TO TRIM

1. Use view buttons (magnifying glasses) to see all of the audio in the window

2. Click selection tool

3. Click, hold and drag over desired portion of audio

4. Click Trim outside selection button to delete unwanted audio at beginning and end

TO CHANGE VOLUME

1. Select desired portion of audio

2. Click on Effect menu and choose Amplify

3. Enter settings and Click Okay.

TO NORMALIZE

1. Select desired portion of audio

2. Click on Effect menu and choose Normalize

3. Choose desired setting, preview and Click Okay.

TO SAVE as an MP3 file

1. Click on File menu and Export Selection as MP3

2. Choose where to save the MP3 file

3. Enter title, composer, and publisher information

TO SAVE a project file for future editing

1. Click on File menu and Save Project As.

2. Choose where to save the project file

TO CHANGE PITCH
without changing tempo

1. Select desired portion of audio

2. Click on Effect menu and choose Change Pitch

3. Enter settings, Preview, and Click Okay.

TO CHANGE TEMPO
without changing pitch

1. Select desired portion of audio

2. Click on Effect menu and choose Change Tempo

3. Enter settings and Click Okay.
