Attendees: Don
Berger, Marti Jenkins, Bill Coulthart, Jess Garcia,

Middle School Courtyard/Trellis:
Proposal: creation of MS trellis/courtyard
Purpose:
provides shaded social and academic area for MS students,
faculty/staff
Description:
A painted metal
trellis placed behind the MS, attached to the building. New
concrete will be poured,
which will include brick
patterns. The bronze color of our railings is preferred for
the trellis color.
Funding:
The money will come out of Cary Academy’s capital
contingency budget. The first bid is $50,500; two
more bids have been requested.
Appropriateness:
provides shade and place to take classes
Dug-outs:
Proposal: build baseball dugouts
Purpose: provides shelter and storage
Description:
It is a center block building with brick veneer and wooden
roof with standard shingles. It is 55 foot
long with a 15x10 foot
storage area. A roll-up door will provide access to drive
in. It was suggested that we
put the roll-up door on
the first base dug-out versus the third base dug-out due to
aesthetics. There will be a
first base dug-out door that
faces the back service road. There will be an extra wide
door on the third base dug-out.
Jess will find out how much
of a price difference there is if we use our current brick
versus brick veneer.
If the difference is only a
couple of thousand dollars we prefer to use our current
brick so it will match the aesthetic
value of our other buildings.
Funding:
parents of baseball players
have raised $10,000; Cary Academy will pay for the remainder
Appropriateness:
provides shelter and storage; top item from the Facilities
Committee
Louise
passed out the Five Year Long Range Plan overview for the
Grounds Committee. The grove is currently on hold; further
work with Ann Goodnight and the Grounds Committee is
needed. The US Slope has been completed.
In the
Fall the Facilities and Grounds committee will meet to
review the LRP document for the Grounds Committee.
