Facilities Committee
Facilities Committee Attendees: Don Berger, Steve Hodgdon, Jon Powell, Jess Garcia, John Miller, Dennis Hoyle, Kim Ray, Dawn Gartlehner, Shannon Clark, Rebecca Kirstein, and Julie Hartz. Committee members took a campus tour of the Middle School, Upper School, Advancement and Information Services. Information Services - Rick Harris visited the meeting to answer questions regarding Information Services’ facilities requests. They would like to have satellite offices in the MS and US so they can better meet the needs when we switch to tablets. Middle School - Marti Jenkins visited the meeting to answer questions regarding Middle School’s facilities requests. It was suggested that a physical space study by a professional be completed by the end of next Fall. We should avoid having students seen going to see the Learning Specialist. The Middle School is short six advisory rooms. MJ would like to have four additional classrooms. If Dawn Gartlehner moves to the Middle School that would free her room for an archival room or office. Upper School – Mitch McGuigan visited the meeting to answer questions regarding Upper School’s facilities requests. He would like three additional classrooms, one conference room and one lab/student research room. He would like to see what happens with tablets with regards to larger student lockers. He would like to also see how the fish bowls will be used next year with the change over to tablets. U105 is a study hall but may be able to change to a classroom. The conference room needs to be large enough for a department meeting. Advancement – Lynne Fountain visited the meeting to answer questions regarding Advancement’s facilities requests. She would like a digitalized storage area/archival room. This could be off site, perhaps in the Alumni house which was also requested.
Athletics – Jon
Powell reviewed his requests and answered questions. He
stated that it was difficult to schedule tennis practices
without going into the evening. Four courts would be nice
but six courts would eliminate the problem completely.
