September 30, 2003 Minutes

Attendees: Don Berger, Jon Powell, Dennis Hoyle, John Miller, Michael Paesler, Duncan Anderson and Matt Gardzina.   

Main purpose of the meeting:  The committee needs to create an updated list of what our immediate, short term and long term needs are.  

1. The committee reviewed the April 26, 2002 priority list.    

2. A suggestion was made to publicize our Campus Master Plan so folks who may be interested in giving can see the areas that we need financial assistance.  We could work with the Advancement Office to put together a brochure which lists the top five projects we can’t afford to fund.    

3. The Grounds Committee should present Capital Requests to the Facilities Committee. 

Process:
It was decided that we would solicit widespread input from the community via a questionnaire.  Items left uncompleted from the first plan will be reevaluated.   

DB will layout the schedule of dates/timelines for surveying the different constituents. Questions regarding the projects that fall within the realm of the Grounds Committee will be included in the survey.  We will ask that individual surveys be due back before department surveys.  DB asked committee members to review the survey and make him aware of any changes/suggestions.  DB will send the revised survey to committee members for a final review.  DB will make sure to add a question on a “dream project”; what would folks like to see if they could ask for anything, etc.  DB will include a paragraph in the cover letter of the survey on how successful the first Campus Master Plan has been.  The survey will be emailed; it can be returned via email or hardcopy.
