Back to Physical Space Survey February 28, 2006 Dear Parents: The Facilities Committee would like your help planning for improvements to our campus that address physical space needs and wants, safety issues, and building and grounds appearance. To accomplish our task in an effective manner that encourages community involvement, we invite parents to complete the 2006 Physical Space Survey online. The Facilities Committee used a similar survey in Spring 2000 to produce the comprehensive plan adopted by the Board of Directors in May 2000 (to see this plan and our progress visit here). We modified the plan in 2004, and it is again time to gather community input, evaluate our progress, and establish new priorities. Suggestions made in 2004 were instrumental in the Facilities Committee developing the following priorities:
We encourage you to think about the present as well as what you would like to see in the future (defined as the next five to seven years). Dream about the ideal facilities and appearance for Cary Academy. How would it look different than it looks now? We hope you will fill out the survey electronically, but there is also a printable version available that you can complete and return to Kim Fogleman, my administrative assistant. Please feel free to include detailed descriptions of suggested new programs, details of space parameters for such programs, (size, location) and any other information that you may have regarding your suggestions. You may certainly address as few or as many of the questions as you would like. Please complete the survey by March 27. The Committee will begin compiling the information from the questionnaires and begin meeting with school personnel in March and April. It will present its findings and recommendations at the Alliance Meeting on April 26. After reviewing parent comments from that meeting as well as additional community feedback, the committee will then present its new facilities priority list to the school's Board of Directors at its May 9th meeting. On behalf of the Facilities Committee I would like to thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to think about Cary Academy's future. Surveying our parents, staff, and students will provide the information necessary to help Cary Academy continue to develop in effective and innovative ways. Sincerely,
Donald S.
