Physical Space Survey 2004
Back to Campus Master Plan

January 13, 2004

Dear Parents:

The Facilities Committee would like your help developing a long range facilities plan for Cary Academy that addresses its physical space needs and wants, safety issues, and building and grounds appearance. To accomplish this task in an effective manner that encourages community involvement, we invite all members of our school community to complete the 2004 Physical Space Survey.

The Facilities Committee used a similar survey in Spring 2000 to produce the comprehensive plan adopted by the Board of Directors in May 2000 (to see this plan and our progress visit http://web1.caryacademy.org/committees/campus/default.htm).  It is time to again gather community input, evaluate progress made on the initial plan, and produce a new Facilities Plan.

Think about the present as well as what you would like to see in the future (defined as the next five to seven years). Dream about the ideal facilities and appearance for Cary Academy. How would it look different than it looks now?

Please feel free to attach additional sheets, including detailed descriptions of suggested new programs, details of space parameters for such programs, (size, location) and any other information that you may have regarding your suggestions. You may certainly address as few or as many of the questions as you would like.

Please return forms by February 6 to Kim Fogleman via the enclosed envelope or complete the survey electronically and email it to: kim_fogleman@caryacademy.org. The Committee will begin compiling the information from the questionnaires and meeting with school personnel in February and March. It will present its findings and recommendations at the Alliance Meeting on May 3rd . After reviewing parent comments from that meeting as well as additional community feedback, the committee will then present the Campus Master Plan to the school's Board of Directors at its board meeting on May 18th.

On behalf of the Campus Master Plan Committee I would like to thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to think about Cary Academy's future. Surveying our parents, staff, and students will provide the information necessary to best help Cary Academy develop in effective and innovative ways.

Sincerely,

Donald S. Berger
