Flook Reaches Semi-finals of NCFL Grand Nationals, Jameel & Copland to Attend NFL Nationals

Senior Andy Flook (09) and junior Daniel Bowden (10) recently attended the National Catholic Forensic League's Grand National Tournament held in Albany, New York over Memorial Day weekend. Flook competed in a field of 193 Lincoln Douglas Debaters and placed in the top four by advancing all the way to the semi-final round before losing. Along the way he defeated the tournament's defending champion on a consensus 3-0 decision. This is the highest any student from North Carolina has ever placed in Lincoln Douglas Debate at this national championship. Cary Academy LDers have now placed in the top four of both the NFL and NCFL National Championships in the last two years. Seniors Andrew Copland (09) and Firoz Jameel (09) will be attending the National Forensic League National Speech and Debate Tournament in Birmingham, Alabama later this month to compete in Public Forum Debate. Cary Academy is the only school in North Carolina to have qualified to Nationals in Public Forum Debate for the last three years in a row.
