Lecture Series Committee Meeting 12-1-06

Ben: Still trying to get a speaker with the topic of choice. 

Sarah: Did Dr. Todd get back to you?

Mr. Coven: No, but we really need to get this moving.  I would suggest that you contact Dr. Todd or Ms. Allen to try to get some contacts.  We need to get this rolling by December 13.  Those are two good sources of connections.  Maybe you could contact the head writers of the N&O article to talk about sensationalism vs. reality about whether there is a flu coming and whether we're all going to die.  We need to meet regularly as a committee and as a society and as officers, probably on alternating Mondays.

Kim: I know the lady at Barnes and Noble who gets the speakers to come.  If I can get the list of topics, I can see if there are any speakers in this area.

Ben: There's a guy who can speak on counterterrorism who works with the FBI for counterterrorism and might be able to come in January.

Coven: We also have some teachers at CA who might have some contact for this.  We're talking about the pandemic here, and we need somebody quick or else we'll have to push back the dates.

Coven: If you can find somebody, pursue that and we can have two people speak about the environment.

Sam: He's an air-quality person.

Q: I can make contact with Dr. Todd.

Yasmeen: I can get contacts from Ms. Allen.

Coven: Make it quick too, because we need it.
