Chapter Meeting 1-15-07

For those of you who could not attend the meeting this past Wednesday, here are the projects that we discussed.

1. Hot Chocolate Apple Cider: We are going to sell the left over hot chocolate and apple cider this Wednesday and Thursday morning Jan. 17-18. Again, the profits will go to Darfur aid. The following people volunteered to help out: Jake, Stephanie, Vinny, CJ, Emily, Kelsey, and Brian (only on the 18th)

2. Working at Chick-fil-a for a night: As NHS has done in previous years, we are going to work at Chick-Fil-A for a night (doing things like filling drinks, cleaning tables, running the table with the prizes, etc.) sometime during the week of Jan. 22. A percentage of the profits that night will go to Darfur aid. We will ask for volunteers later when we have the date secured w/ Ms. Cotter and Chick-fil-a.

3. Tales for Tots: This drive will be go from Feb. 1st to the 9th. Service Committee from class of 2007 has run this drive for the past few years: basically, we just ask for donations of children books from the high school, and then donate them to a program for needy boys and girls.

4. Easter Baskets: This is also a project that NHS has covered in past years. We will ask for donations of candy and other Easter basket fillers. We will need volunteers to assemble the baskets the week of March 26th and deliver them sometime between April 2nd and 4th to needy children.

5. Catherine is looking into volunteering at the Special Olympics, specifically at the swim and track meets and will keep us updated on possible dates.
