Most common reaction to get uranium metal:

UF4(s) + 2Mg(s) --> U(s) + 2MgF2(s)
This reaction is rather hard to accomplish.  The mixture be heated in an oxygen-free atmosphere, and an inert gas (like argon) must be present.

Uranium is also obtained from rocks, specifically those in the earth's crust.  There are large quantities of Uranium in the mierals Pitchblende and Carnoite.

Most uranium is packaged and distributed in two forms: sodium diuranate ("yellow cake") and triuranium octoxide.
