Notice that Sodium oxidizes rapidly in the air, and thus is not shiny in these pictures.

This Sodium does not have a lot of oxidation on it, however.

Here you can clearly see that sodium oxidizes rapidly, and this is what happens if Sodium is left out.

Normally, Sodium is stored under Kerosine, because it is so reactive.
