Necklace is in rhodium-plated brass

Rhodium is one of the relatively metals that has few applications in its own right, but acts as an important alloying agent with other metals. Rhodium has been produced 10 tons per year. Some of this Rhodium are used in the manufacture of special high temperature crucibles for laboratory applications, but most of Rhodium however is used as a hardener for platinum and palladium. Rhodium is most often found in nature. It also shares some of the notable properties of Platinum, including its high level of resistance to corrosion, its hardness and its ductility. This is the rarest of the Platinum metals, found in the earth's crust. Rhodium is obtained as the product of nickel production.
