General Information

General Information:

Palladium is a soft transitional metal, with a shiny, silvery-white color.  Palladium is one of six platinum metals and is considerably rare.  It does not discolor in air, and is the least dense and has the lowest melting point of the six platinum metals.  Because Palladium is harder, lighter and cheaper than platinum, it is often used instead of platinum.  Palladium's natural abundance is 56.8%.

 Palladium is Obtained:

Palladium can be found with platinum and many other metals in the platinum group in mining deposits of North America, South America, Ethiopia, Australia and Russia.  Palladium can also be found in some nickel-copper deposits in South Africa and Ontario.
