Uses
Indium is used for coating high speed bearings, transistors, rectifiers, thermistors, and photoconductors. Indium is also used in low melting alloys. An alloy of 24% indium and 76% gallium is a liquid at room temperature. Indium makes good mirrors; an indium mirror is more resistant to corrosion. Indium can be put on to metal or evaporated onto glass to form a good mirror. Presently, indium costs about $1 to $5 per gram.
Some common compounds of Indium are:
In3+ + 3Cl- --> InCl3
2In3+ + 3O2- --> In2O3
2In3+ + 3SO4 2- --> In2(SO4)3
