Origins of Francium

Discovered by Marguerite Perey in Paris France.  She discovered Francium while analyzing the radioactive decay of actinium.  Francium is extremely rare and the physical form of Fr is still not yet certain.  Francium decays to radium or astatine (2).   At first, Perey was going to propose to call the new, alkali metal type element, "actinium K" (4).  She later decided to call the element Francium, after her beloved country, France (4).
