Beryllium will form salts with most of the non-metals such as Oxygen, Fluorine, Bromine, Iodine, Chlorine, and Hydrogen. Beryllium Oxide is the most commonly used salt.
Beryllium Salts are highly toxic and when should be handed with great care.
Beryllium resists total oxidation in normal temperature. Beryllium, however, will form a very thin layer of BeO around the outside layer. The thin layer of BeO is strong enough to scratch glass.
