Introduction: DMT is a recreational drug that causes hallucinations.  The drug alone can be smoked, injected, or snorted.  DMT is outlawed in the United States.  When DMT is pure, it is a clear crystal.

Where is it found?: DMT can be found occurring naturally in many plants.  The yopo tree’s seeds, Phalaris grass (Reed canary grass), maiden's wattle, bundle flower, leaves of the chagropanga, giant river reed, bark of the jurema, epena, and  leaves from the chacruna.  Chacruna is taken orally, usually as a tea, for it contains both DMT and MOAI, a strong natural anti-depressant (DMT can be taken orally only if tkan with an MOAI).  Small amounts of DMT can also be found in your body (mainly in the brain), created by the enzyme tryptamine-N-methyltransferase.  It has been suggested that the DMT in your brain helps with different states of mind such as dreaming.
