Sucralose, also known as Splenda, is the new sweetener that has many special qualities. Sucralose is a chlorinated sugar
compound; because of the integrated chlorine the body doesn’t recognize sucralose as a carbohydrate. Since sucralose isn’t
absorbed by the body and doesn’t have any calories, it is the latest diet trend. Sucralose is not a natural substance
because it was synthesized, meaning it does not have a natural abundance. Sucralose can be found in many food products.
Companies are now incorporating Splenda into their product because of the diet factor and it’s ability to stay bonded during
baking, unlike other sugar supplement's bonds that break down during the baking process. Sucralose is obtained by
chlorinating sugar molecules. It has also said to be safe for diabetics, but there may be some risks. Please see my dangers
page for more information about the dangers of Splenda to diabetics and non-diabetics.
