COCl2 is a colorless gas with an odor
of fresh hay or grass. The most common chemical name for COCl2 is phosgene.
However there are other chemical names, including: Carbonyl Chloride, carbonic
dichloride, carbon oxychloride, carbonyl dichloride, chloroformyl chloride,
d-stoff, and green cross.

This figure demonstrates how the atoms in the phosgene <molecule> bond
together. All of the atoms in a phosgene molecule are held together by covalent
bonds. As you can see the bond between carbon and oxygen in the molecule is a
double bond while the bonds between the carbon atom and the two chlorine atoms
are single <bonds. From> this figure the percent <composition> of phosgene by
number is easy to tell. It is 25% carbon, 25% <oxygen, and> 50% chlorine. However a more accurate
way to find the percent <composition> is by mass. The percent
