Properties of Iron Oxide
Properties    Historical Background    General Information    References

There are two different isotopes of iron ions, Fe2+ and Fe3+, thus causing two different possible iron oxide compounds. These two compounds are ferrous and ferric oxide, or iron (II) and iron (III) oxide.

Ferrous Oxide- FeO

Ferric Oxide- Fe
2O3

This page will discuss the compound ferrous oxide, not ferric oxide.
