Uses

Ketamine is most generally used as an animal tranquilizer.  It's original purpose was as a human and animal anesthetic, however now that there are safer means of anesthesia, ketamine is rarely used for medical reasons. 

Perhaps the more known use for ketamine is as a recreational drug.  Ketamine is used often used as a way to feel that out of body experience, or just to relax.  as it is and anesthetic, it blocks the nerves, and the user has a dreamy, invincible feeling.  Ketamine has also been used to create the Near Death Experience. Some of the more sick people out there use ketamine as a date rape drug.  Because Ketamine is an anesthetic, it gives the user less control of themselves.  therefore, making them succeptible to other people.
