Possible Effects of PCP
Phencyclidine, or PCP, is a drug, toxic to humans, that is quite capable of being in it's own category. Many times, it is refered to as an hallucinogen, and is frequently described as such in medical/research reports. In other repects, it acts as a stimulant, and many times a depressant such as Prozac.
Some of PCP's side effects are delirium, visual disturbances and hallucinations and, occasionally, violence. Evidence of long term memory disorders and psychological disturbances resembling schizophrenia have also been linked to the use of PCP.
One possible result of PCP overdose is bizarre, violent and self-destructive behavior. PCP can also produce extreme physical as well as psychological distress. It can cause a deep coma, lasting up to 12 hours, seizures and convulsions, respiratory depression, and possible cardiac problems.
