Formaly, the chemcial name for this drug is Phenyl Cyclohexyl Piperidine (hint, the initials PCP are derived from this name). "Phencyclidine" is simply a contracted form of the actual chemical name.

The formula for PCP is C17H25N. By mass, there is 83.816% carbon, 10.272% hydrogen, and 5.752% nitrogen. By number, there is 40.476% carbon, 59.524% hydrogen, and 2.381% nitrogen. The type of bond that PCP expresses is covalent; meaning that is a NM-NM bond. The structure looks like this:

With the single nitrogen, and three double bonds, this chemical is found to be the starting point for many other chemicals.
The melting point of PCP crystals are 46- 46.5 degrees F. Its density in natural state is a white crystalline powder that is frequently mixed with water or alcohol to make it soluble.
Many people do not know what this chemical looks like, in fact, many people have never heard of this drug, which is why programs have been set up all around the country to help aid those who have been addicted to know who has been addicted to this drug. Please check the referances page for information on contacting the right people for your needs and concerns.

Here is a picture of PCP in it's liquid form

Since PCP is made in a lab, or a sort of lab, it has no natural abundance. In order for PCP to exist, drug dealers must slave over the right formula in order to create the right drug instead of it's closely related 'cousins.'
