Important facts about Ozone

~ Ozone's atomic mass is 48 g

~ Ozone is 1.5 times as dense as oxygen

~ At -112*C (-170*F) Ozone condenses to a dark blue liquid, known to be a strong and magnetic

~It freezes at -251.4*C (-420*F).

~ The gas decomposes rapidly at temperatures above 100*C (212*F)

~ Ozone boils at –111.9*C (-169.52*F), and it melts at –192.5*C (-314.5*F)

~ Ozone has a specific gravity of 2.144

~ Ozone is measured in “parts per million” (ppm).  Many government organizations have set maximum levels of indoor ozone to ensure safety.  The CSA recommends maximum limits for household use at .04 ppm.   Normal ozone levels on the earth’s surface range from .017 ppm to .34 ppm.  In some heavy smog areas, ozone levels can approach .2 ppm to .65 ppm.   Away from the city, and all of the smog, ozone levels range around .04 ppm.
