Carbon Dioxide and the Human Respiratory System
Carbon dioxide is the product of respiration. When oxygen is taken into the body, O2 is taken in by the red blood cells and used, and then the waste, in the form of carbon, is attached to the oxygen. When people exhale, they are breathing out carbon dioxide, or "dirty air."
