Aspirin is one of the most recommended drug all over the world because of what it does. It is an analgesic (compounds that reduce pain) drug. In addition aspirin also a good anti-inflammatory agent, providing some relief from the swelling associated with arthritis and minor injuries. Aspirin is also an antipyretic compound, which means it reduces fever, that's why aspirin is such a great drug; it is so versatile. To show how much aspirin is used, each year, more than 40 million pounds of aspirin is produced in the US alone. That converts to about 300 tablets a year for every man, woman and child. Nevertheless, it is such not as harmless a drug as people might think it is to be. Excessive use may cause gastrointestinal bleeding and large doses can aggravate a host and cause vomiting, diarrhea, vertigo and hallucinations. The average safe dosage of this aspirin is 0.3-1g and single doses of 10-30 g can be fatal.
