Characteristics

The chemical adenosine is quite a useful and interesting one with strange characteristics. The technical term for adenosine is, "a purine nucleoside, adenine linked by its N9 nitrogen to the C1 carbon of ribose. It is a component of ribonucleic acid and its nucleotides play major roles in the reactions and regulation of metabolism." (NDI Terminology). It appears as a white powder, and is clear in solubility. It becomes more and more soluble by warming and lowering the pH. Adenosine is a product that is practically insoluble in alcohol or any other organic solvents, but is soluble in water, which it pollutes a little. A vial of adenocard, one of the synonyms for adenosine, costs about $33.49 for a 6mg vial and a 2ml pre-filled syringe. (Moore Medical)
