On March 18, 1997, Roche Laboratories announced that it has received clearance for the continuous use of Versed intravenously for sedation. Previously, Versed had been approved only for intermittent IV injection for sedation.
The discovery of Versed may be tied to research and development of the other benzodiazepines.
