Ibuprofen is a member of the proprionic acid group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).  It is a white to off-white, crystalline, stable solid.   It is mostly insoluble in water but it is soluble in most organic solvents such as acetone and ethanol.
