Cary Academy
offers an Extended Day program for registered students in
grades 6-8. The program provides students with quality,
supervised care between 3:10 PM and 6:00 PM. It is designed
to assist parents whose work schedules do not allow them to
regularly pick up their children at dismissal time.
The goal of the
Extended Day Program is to ensure that participating
students enjoy a positive and meaningful after school
experience. Therefore, the program is organized around
academic, social, and physical activities. Students have
opportunities to work on homework, play athletic and board
games, and just relax with their peers. Staffing,
activities, and facility use are planned in advance knowing
the number of students registered for the program.
We keep the
schedule as close as possible to what the students would be
doing “at home”! After checking in at 3:10, the students are
encouraged to go outside, play games, and generally relax.
While we do provide snacks and drinks, some like to go to
the gym for other snacks and drinks. They must return by
3:30. At 4:00, homework time begins and everyone must settle
down to quiet studying until at least 4:45 or until their
homework is finished. Once homework is done, the students
again relax with friends, play, and often will have an arts
project in the works. On Fridays, there is no homework
required and it is movie day!

The Extended Day Program operates the days that Cary Academy
is open for classes (full days).
Extended Day Program Options:
1. Full
Use (a flat rate based on the total number of school days in
a given month). Cost: $18 per day (no refunds for unused
days).
2. Partial
Use (selected days, identified in advance, excluding
breaks). Cost: $21 per day
3. Emergency
Use (In extenuating circumstances the Extended Day Program
may be used by non-registered pupils for $25.00 per day per
child).
For students who are participating in athletics, intramurals
or other extracurricular activities, special arrangements
may be made for an hourly rate of $9.00 (in one hour
increments).
A late fee of $5.00 will be imposed for every ten-minute
increment, or part thereof, for children picked up after
6:00 PM.
These options may be changed at the beginning of each
trimester in order to accommodate the changing schedules of
students and parents. Changes from full use to partial use
or vice versa must be reported to the Extended Day
Coordinator. All Extended Day fees are billed on a monthly
basis at the end of the month. Questions regarding billing
should be directed to the Extended Day Coordinator.
