CHARGER WRESTLERS BREAK THROUGH AT CAPITAL CITY TOURNAMENT

CA wrestlers traveled across town Saturday to take part in the Capital City Classic at Green Hope High. The Chargers were one of only two private school teams (the other being from the much larger Cardinal Gibbons High School) in a field that featured some of the biggest and best programs in eastern North Carolina. Despite not fielding entries in three of the 14 weight classes, CA still finished a respectable tenth among the sixteen teams. The format called for dividing the wrestlers at each weight into three groups of five based on their individual season records to date, producing some intense competition among the top contestants while also allowing for some of the younger boys to gain some much-needed tournament experience.
