2 – 0
October 4, 2007
Game 1 – 26 – 24
Game 2 – 25 – 15
The Lady Chargers defeated the visiting Lions from our Lady
of Lourdes 2 – 0.
It was a very significant win for our team because we
finally won a close game which will provide the confidence
we need for the up coming TMSC tournament.
All season we have been working hard on the basics
not willing to sacrifice technique as a means to win and
finally it is paying off.
The Chargers executed over hand serving, setting and
spiking, and aggressive back row hitting to overpower the
Lions. Abby
Larus had an outstanding match serving 3 out of 3 and 7
total kills.
Setter, Connor Roebuck, turned in a very busy day setting at
least 27 times as the Chargers dominated at the net.
Ashley Allen went 4 for 5 at the serving line and 3
impressive kills.
As a team we served 50 out of 59 (85%) and recorded
21 kills. The
Chargers begin the first round of the TMSC Tournament at
East Wake Academy, Tuesday 4:30.

Game 1 – 19 – 25
Game 2 – 17 – 25
Game 3 – 15 – 12
The Chargers came out flat not
communicating or moving well without the ball but after a
few minutes regained composure making some outstanding
plays. Alsey
Davison served 10 out of 10, Sophie was 9 out of 9 and
Kourtney Dworsky was 9 out of 10 with one ace.
Abby Larus played a very strong net game accumulating
5 kills. Ashley
Allen earned the winning point in the third game by
challenging Cary Christian’s best player to a net battle and
walked away the victor.
Unfortunately this was not enough to secure the
victory as the Lady Chargers lost the match.
We will be in action again on Thursday when we host
Our Lady of Lourdes at 4:15.

Cary Academy host NRCA 1 – 2
September 28, 2007
Game 1 – 12 – 25
Game 2 – 25 – 20
Game 3 – 13 - 15
What an exciting
rematch the Lady Chargers had against conference rival NRCA.
The first time around the Chargers lost 1 – 2 in a
third game show down with the Knights which ended up with
the Chargers losing 12 – 15.
Today was much of the same.
The Chargers got off to a slow start losing the first
game 12 – 25 but rebounded in the second game winning 25 –
20. Once again
it came down to the third game to determine the winner.
And what a game it was!
The Chargers were down 4 – 10 but staged an
unbelievable come back behind the strong serving of Kourtney
and outstanding net play by Kayla, Connor, Sophie, and Abby.
After 6 unanswered points the score was 10 – 10 and
the Knights were forced to call a time out to regroup.
The Chargers continued to fight as both teams traded
points as the score became tied again at 13 – 13.
After two long volleys the Chargers ended up losing
13 – 15 but had played their best match of the season!
The Chargers host Cary Christian on Tuesday 3:45.
Cary Academy host Ravenscroft School 2 – 1
September 27, 2007
Game 1 – 11 – 15
Game 2 – 25 – 9
Game 3 – 15 - 10
The Lady Chargers can be proud of their
offensive effort today and were rewarded by capturing the
victory against Ravenscroft School.
We started out slow in the first game struggling to
move to the ball and did not communicate to each other
successfully.
The result was an 11 – 15 defeat.
The Chargers regrouped with a renewed determination
to play as a team.
In the second game we began passing to our setter,
Connor Roebuck, who constantly set front line players Abby
Larus and Kayla Byington for kills.
Sophie Robison got in on the act by going on a 9
point serving streak.
Kourtney Dworsky and Alsey Davidson dominated back
court play. The Lady Chargers finally found their rhythm
winning the game 25 – 9.
The third game continued to be more of the same as
the Chargers continued to demonstrate solid basic skills and
teamwork. Olivia
Banks entered the game at a very critical time took a deep
breath and delivered a bullet serve down the line for an
ace. Her second
serve was just as powerful finding the back corner of the
Ravens courts for her second ace.
These two aces fueled our confidence enabling our
team to claim victory.
It was a total team effort and much needed win!
The Chargers host NRCA tomorrow at 5:15 in the SEA
gym.

1 -2
September 20, 2007
Game 1 – 17 – 25
Game 2 – 25 – 15
Game 3 – 8 - 15
The
Lady Chargers fought a very tough battle yesterday against
Durham Academy but came up short losing 1 – 2 to the
Cavaliers. We
started off a little tentative but then really gained
momentum toward the later part of game one.
In the second game the Chargers put every aspect of
their game together winning easily.
Our serving has been outstanding – serve reception
has been improving but still needs some work to become
consistent. The
girls can be proud of their efforts today.
The chargers will host East Wake Academy on Tuesday.
Kudos
goes to Sophie for her outstanding serving (10 straight
points) in the second game!

Cary Academy @ Magellan Charter School
0- 2
September 18, 2007
Game 1 – 23 – 25
Game 2 – 15 - 25
The Lady Chargers lost to a undefeated
Magellan Charter yesterday 0 -2.
The Chargers came out looking sharp in the first game
with a consistent team effort and very solid play.
Strong overhand serving from Kourtney Dworsky and
Connor Roebuck kept the Mariners off balance.
The score was close the entire game with the lead
changing hands several times before we found ourselves
tied at 23-23.
A bad serve and miss hit cost us the game.
Once we lost the first game our confidence was gone
and so was the determination to win.
However, our season is not over and we are not giving
up! We are going to build on the positives of
yesterday game; strong serving, improved serve reception,
outstanding net play, and better team communication.
The St. David Warriors are in for a battle when they
come to our house today at 4:00.
Special Kudos to Rachel Holt and Ashley
Allen for strong performances.

Game
1 – 21-25
Game 2 – 19 – 25
The Chargers
struggled working as a team today which caused us to lose
the match.
Individually we had some bright moments but individuals
never win games.
It takes teamwork, communication, and trust for teams to be
successful.
Hopefully we have learned from this as we move forward to
begin the second half of our season.
We will be on the road next Tuesday @ Magellan
Charter 4:00.

Cary Academy @ North Raleigh Christian Academy 1 -2
September 10, 2007
Game 1 - 25 - 23
Game 2 - 19 - 25
Game 3 - 12 - 15
The Lady Chargers
lost a heart breaker match against Triangle MS Conference
foe North Raleigh Christian Academy 1 – 2.
The Chargers were down by four points 16 – 20 in the
first game but regrouped during a time out to go on an 8
point scoring spree.
Alsey Davidson provided the serving power going 10
out of 10 followed by Kayla Byington & Meg Kennedy each
serving 5 out of 5.
The second game began with the Chargers taking an 8 –
4 lead but the Knights refused to go down without a battle.
The Chargers began to making serve reception errors
that spread throughout the team like wild fire.
Eight unforced errors and several hitting errors cost
us the second game.
This forced the tie breaking third game to decide the
match. It was
determined the tie-breaking match would be to 15.
The Chargers made some line-up adjustment to start
the third game which quickly paid off as the team took a 10
– 4 lead. But
hold the presses – the Knights refused to throw in the
towel. After a
time out, the Knights fought back behind some very good
serving tying the score 11- 11.
The Lady Charger regained the serve and won the point
but the Knights battled back to tie again 12 – 12.
Two costly communication errors and one miss hit cost
the Chargers the game 12 – 15.
It was a very disappointing loss but our team made
some significant strides during this match.
Sophie Robison, Kayla Byington, Alsey Davidson, and
Abby Larus all had very strong plays at the net.
Rachel Holt and Kourtney Dworsky led the team in
digs. The
Chargers will be on the road again Wednesday @ Cary
Christian 3:00.

@ East Wake Academy 1 - 2
September 6, 2007
Game 1 – 14
– 25
Game 2 – 25 – 23
Game 3 – 6 – 25
The Lady
Chargers struggled receiving the serve today which normally
spells disaster for any volleyball team.
During warm-ups starting setter, Connor Roebuck,
twisted her ankle which caused our team to lose focus and
confidence. As a
result, we failed to stay with our game plan (pass, set,
spike) and settled for simply trying to get the ball over
the net.
On a positive note, during the second game CA was trailing
17 – 21 until Maya Wilson and Kayla Byington decided to take
matters into their own hands refusing to accept defeat.
Maya caught fire passing every ball to the front line
while Kayla dominated net play recording 4 kills.
Sophie Robinson joined the action by serving 5
straight points to close out the game.
It was an outstanding team effort!
We are back in action next Monday @ NRCA at 4:30.

Cary Academy
@ Triangle Day School
2 - 1
September. 5, 2007
Game 1 – CA
25 – 18
Game 2 – CA 23 – 25
Game 3 – CA 15 - 3
The Lady
Chargers captured their first victory of the season at
Triangle Day School winning two out of three games.
CA came out strong in the first game serving 23 out
of 24 as a team and recording only 4 serve reception errors.
When a team is serving that consistently and not
making costly serve reception errors the results will always
be positive. As
a result CA won the first game 25 – 18.
In the second game Triangle Day was determined to win
by hustling after every ball and getting back over the net.
The Lady Chargers gave it their all but came up short
23 – 25. In the
third game CA took the lead early on and never looked back.
Kourtney Dworsky took over the serve at 5 – 3 and
served the next 10 points in a row to win the third game and
clinch the match.
Alsey Davidson and Abby Larus lead the team in serve
receptions and digs.
Connor Roebuck served 12 for 12 with 2 aces and
Sophie Robison had her first solo block of the season.
The Chargers play at East Wake Academy tomorrow at
4:30.

CA vs.
St. David’s School
0 - 2
September 4, 2007
Game 1
– CA 10 – 25
Game 2 – CA 28 – 30
The Blue
Volleyball Team began their first of a three game road trip
yesterday at St. David's School.
Our first game we came out rusty and out of rhythm
losing 10 – 25.
However, we regained some momentum during the second game
playing more to our potential.
Connor Roebuck and Sophie Robinson led the charge
serving perfect from the line 9 out of 9 and 4 out of 4
respectively.
Kayla Byington (4 - 5) and Kourntey Dworsky (5 - 6) also
turned in solid serving performances.
This game would prove to be a test of wills between
two evenly matched teams as the lead changed hands several
times. The Lady
Chargers had a chance to win at 26 – 25 but could not get it
done. Normal
volleyball games are played to 25 (you have to win by two).
After some very long volleys the Chargers ended up
with the loss 28 - 30.
Our team can be proud of staying with our game plan
of passing, setting, and spiking at every opportunity
understanding this will benefit our performance as the
season progresses.
We look forward to playing @ Triangle Day School
today (4:30) in search of our first victory.

CA vs. Magellan Charter School
0 - 2
August 30, 2007
Game 1 - CA 14 - 25
Game 2 - CA 23 - 25
We opened the season with a home
game against Magellan Charter. Our inexperienced and
nerves showed themselves the first game as we made simple
communication and position errors. The second game we
demonstrated more skill began communicating, and stared
putting rallies together. However, it was a little to
late as Magellan captured the victory.
