Cary Academy vs. North Raleigh Christian Academy
0 - 1
The Chargers got off to a great start against the
NRCA Knights. They were able to keep up the attack
throughout the entire first half of the game. Lauren
Jamiolkowski and Ayla Koc made great runs down the field and
created goal-scoring opportunities. Unfortunately in the
last 10 minutes of the game, the NRCA Knights scored a goal.
The Chargers continued the attack, keeping the ball in the
NRCA half of the field. But the Chargers were unable to get
one by the NRCA keeper.

4/25 CA @ Ravenscroft 1 - 0
In a game that we needed to win to keep
our playoff hopes alive, we scrapped together a total game
effort and walked off the field victorious. We
competed, tackled, defended, and attacked for 80 minutes.
With 6 minutes remaining, we finally found the back of the
net.
Lauren Jamiolkowski played a sweet ball
to Nihad Mansour who slotted it past the Ravenscroft keeper.
We held off their final onslaught and
celebrated a mighty win. The victory was all the more
sweeter since we had lost two key players at halftime due to
a school function. Instead of mailing it in, the team
rallied around the remaining players and got the job done.

4/22 CA @ Wake Christian Academy 3 - 2
We strive to play pretty soccer every time we step on the
field. Tuesday night we did just that. Through
our ball movement, we created numerous chances. We had
an answer for them every time they scored. The
scoreboard showed 1-0, 1-1, 2-1, 2-2, and when the final
whistle blew 3-2 in our favor. The coaches were proud
of the way we continued to play our game, how we displayed
the mental toughness needed to sway momentum back in our
favor, and at our composure in front of the net.

4/21 CA v. St. Mary's 0 - 3
When we first played St. Mary's we were deadlocked for 78
minutes until they scored two to put the game away.
This time they were ready for us. After the start
was delayed for some field repair, we started off strong.
We created some scoring chances and limited their advances.
Twenty minutes in we had a breakdown in communication and
they scored their first goal. We hung our heads and
they showed why they are one of the best teams in the state.
Six minutes later the score was 3-0. We played strong
and hard the entire second half, but were unable to make up
the deficit.

CA vs. Durham Academy 0 - 2
The Chargers came out on to the field knowing it
would be a tough game. But the Chargers maintained amazing
intensity and put up a strong fight. An outstanding
performance in the first half kept the score tied at zero.
Jackie Bennett had a great shot which unfortunately hit the
post and then was caught by the DA keeper. The Chargers came
back in the second half and started out well, but DA managed
to score two quick goals. The next game is at home against
Saint Mary’s.

Wilson Christian Academy vs. CA 3 - 1
The Chargers got off to a rocky start in the first
few minutes of the game. After they regained their focus,
the Chargers quickly began their attack on goal. In the
second half, Jackie Bennett got two shots past the Wilson
keeper. Lauren Jamiolkowski also had an amazing goal, giving
the Chargers the lead. But the Wilson attack wasn’t
finished. They managed to get a goal late in the second
half. The Chargers were able to keep up the defense and seal
the win.

CA at (#3) Saint Mary's 1 - 3
The tears were quite real after this
game. We played our hearts out. We competed,
fought, hustled, and pushed ourselves for 80 minutes.
We started off poorly, 2:30 into the game we gave up a goal.
Not the start we had envisioned. Less then 10 minutes
later Morgan Joyner equalized off a corner kick from fellow
defender Laura Gauger. The game was back and forth the
entire way. It was incredible to watch. St.
Mary's goes ahead with two minutes left, and scores again at
the end to put it away. The coaches were very proud of
the effort and execution of the Chargers. The defense
commanded the field and keeper Mary Karasek made many key
saves. The next game is at home on Wednesday at 4:30
against DA.

CA
vs. Ravenscroft
0 - 1
It
was a rainy day at the Chargers’ home stadium when the
Ravenscroft Ravens came to compete. CA was losing some
players due to illness and injuries. The rainy weather made
it difficult for the Chargers to connect as a team and keep
the ball moving. Near the end of the first half the Ravens
managed to get a quick goal, making the score 1-0 at
halftime. The Chargers had a great second half, but were
unable to tie up the score.

CA at NRCA 1 - 0
We traveled to NRCA for our
second conference match. We started shaky and were
unable to advance the ball into our opponents half the first
few minutes. Eventually we settled down and let our
skill do the work. We created several chances but were
unable to find the net. It wasn't until the second
half that defender Morgan Joyner pounced on a loose ball and
hammered it into the net. The defense played stellar
limiting their scoring chances. Keeper Sarah Woronoff
made several key saves in celebrating her 16th birthday.

CA vs. Asheville School 3 - 1
It was a great day as the Chargers stepped out onto
the pitch. They were ready to play and hungry for a win.
Right away in the first minute of the game, Lauren
Jamiolkowski sped past about 3 Asheville defenders and put a
shot past the goalie. It was the first goal of the season!
The Chargers kept up the attack with plenty of shots by Ayla
Koc and even defender Morgan Joyner. The Chargers managed to
up the score one with Ayla Koc getting the ball past the
Asheville keeper. At the end of the first half the Chargers
really looked like a team. Unfortunately at the beginning of
the second half, the Asheville forwards got a shot past
goalie Sarah Woronoff. But the Chargers kept the lead and
even scored a third goal by Jackie Bennett. It was the
Charger’s first win and the first home game of the season!

CA vs. Cary Christian 0 - 3
Despite the beautiful day, it was a hard match for the
Chargers. The forwards had a tough time breaking through the
Cary Christian defense. Unfortunately Cary Christian scored
a goal halfway through the first half of the game. But
Caroline Latta fought hard to defend the goal, even managing
to block a tough shot with her face. Way to take one for the
team! Mary Karasek and Sarah Woronoff made some great saves,
but the Chargers’ defense in the second half fell through.
Cary Christian managed to score two more goals, sealing the
defeat of the Chargers. But the Chargers played well and
even midfielder Lauren Jamiolkowski had a couple great shots
on goal. Hopefully the Chargers can come out with a win at
their first home game against the Ashville School!

Cary Academy vs. Carrboro High School 0 -
2
The Chargers started off the game
exceptionally well for the second match of the season. The
midfielders picked up the speed of the game making great
passes to forwards Ayla Koc and Sarah Roberts. The Carrboro
keeper managed to get behind many strong attacks at the
goal. The first half was well-played and the Chargers
contained possession of the ball for most of the time. Going
in to the second half, the Chargers gave it their all. Ayla
Koc and Caitlin Kelly had great shots on goal but were
unfortunately blocked by the Carrboro goalie. With about 20
minutes left in the second half, Carrboro managed to get two
quick goals past the Charger goal line. But the Chargers
kept up the pace and continued the attack. In the end the
score remained 2-0, but was an amazing match on the
Chargers’ part.

CA vs. Forsyth 0-2
The Varsity Girls Soccer season
got off to a rocky start Tuesday at the game against
Forsyth. Being 2nd in the state last year,
Forsyth was a challenge for the Chargers for the first game
of the season. The Chargers were able to keep control of the
ball at the start of the first half. Sarah Woronoff defended
the goal well, blocking a few tough shots from the Forsyth
offense. The Chargers were able to hold off Forsyth through
the first half. In the second half, the Forsyth attack came
quickly and they managed to get two swift goals within the
first 20 minutes. Ayla Koc and Jackie Bennett managed to get
some shots on goal toward the end of the second half. The
Chargers put forth a good effort for their first game, and
despite the loss it was a great start for the season.
