CA hosts Wesleyan Christian Academy 2 - 2
Fortunately if I am going to start
recaps of the games the 2-2 draw vs. Wesleyan Christian
Academy is a GREAT game to talk about. That magical
word that I have talked about since the beginning of the
season, EFFORT, was what prevailed.
For those that didn’t see the game it
didn’t start out as well as we would have liked. Our
effort for the first five minutes of the game was
non-existent unfortunately and we were quickly down 1-0.
The team was able to turn it around though and pull even 1-1
several minutes later. The goal was a combination of
effort and good play. We have discovered over the past
several games that we can be successful when playing the
ball over the opposing team’s defense into open space.
That is exactly what we did, and Josh Carson was able to go
in one on one with the opposing keeper and score.
The rest of the first half was very
back and forth with both teams playing hard. The first
couple of minutes of the 2nd half were the same,
until effort took over. Keyvan hustled after a
defender in their defensive third to force him to make a
mistake. The defender turned the ball over and Keyvan
capitalized and served the ball into the middle of the box
where Dorian Crawford provided us with a text book display
on how to finish a header. We were ahead 2-1.
Wesleyan Christian Academy was not to be denied though and
was able to notch a 2nd goal with about 10
minutes to go despite the gritty performance from goal
keeper Jason Sigmon.
This was a very good team effort.
It is abundantly clear than when we play hard we can play
with any team that we face.
