CA hosts Ravenscroft  6 - 7

The boys lacrosse team put together the best defensive effort of the season but still lost 7-6 to Ravenscroft.  CA was led by the outstanding play of goalie Jake Hammer, who held the Ravens to just one goal in the first half while shutting down shot after shot.  On offense, the Chargers were led by the athleticism and unselfish play of Eric McDonald, who finished the day with two goals and one assist along with numerous clears up the field.  Grady Rosenkampff also netted two goals while Nick Ellis and Connor Dunnleavy each scored once.  The Chargers finish the regular season with a game at rival Durham Academy on Friday.

CA hosts Cary Christian  6 - 7

The boys lacrosse team fell to Cary Christian on Tuesday by a score of 7 to 6.  Grady Rosenkampff stepped in as goalie for the first time in his career to make several key saves in the first half on top of giving a bone crushing hit to a would be scorer in front of the goal.  After playing without defender Chase Brewster the first quarter (missing mouth guard) the Chargers picked up the intensity in the second and third quarters and took the lead on the offensive wizardry of Connor Dunnleavy in the fourth.  Rosenkampff was replaced by Jake Hammer in goal and finished a man up opportunity on a diving shot from behind the cage.  Quite possibly the most memorable play of the season came early in the second quarter as Brewster fed Ian Brooks cutting up field, Brooks went to Jeremy Kleinman who fed a slashing Dunnleavy.  Rather than taking the open shot on the goalie, Connor made the extra pass to fellow attacker Joseph Parrish who dumped the ball in the back of the net with ease as the goalie was completely out of position.  The boys wrap up the regular season on Thursday vs. Ravenscroft and Friday at Durham Academy.

CA vs. Cary Christian  4 - 3

The boys middle school lacrosse team clawed their way back from an 0-3 halftime deficit to defeat Cary Christian yesterday by a score of 4-3.  While the offense struggled in the first half, the defense held the fort down the entire afternoon, led by the play of Jake Hammer in goal and Chase Brewster at close defense.  The Chargers picked up the pace on the offensive end in the second half as Joseph Parrish broke the dry spell by finding the back of the net off a pass from Jeremy Kleinman.  Midfielders Ian Brooks and Eric McDonald picked up the energy and turned the tide of the game by successfully clearing the ball from their defense end.  Kleinman and midfielder Grady Rosenkampff worked well in the final period, finding each other open and finishing for CA tallies.  The Chargers took the lead on Rosenkampffs second goal of the game with 4 minutes left to play.  In the final minutes, Jake Hammer made a point blank save off the shin and Brewster brought a would be scorer to the ground to finish things off.  The Chargers are now 2-2 on the season and go on the road to Parrott Academy on Wednesday.
