Cary Academy's
JV Field Hockey brought home a big win last night over
Riverside with a final score of 7-0. The leading
scorer of the night was Dara Schwartz tallying three goals

scored the fourth goal off a stroke adding to her two

CA @ East Chapel Hill High School 0 - 1
A late game,
under the lights, on a football field, and a new opponent
were the key ingredients in last night's field hockey game.
The Wildcats pounced early and scored off an offensive
corner. Goalie, Mimi Fuchs never allowed the ball past
the line again. Her aggressive, positive and solid
performance on the field was inspiring to all who watched.
Shelby Neaville switched gears from defense to offense and
became a serious threat in the circle. Dara Schwartz
and Catherine Sheffield worked the ball up the field and
created many scoring opportunities. On an offensive
corner, Courtney Berger tapped the ball in, unfortunately,
the referee called a stroke. Sarah Woronoff's stroke
didn't get past the goalie, but her play dominated the
Wildcats on both sides of the field. Elisabeth
Sheffield and Heather Warner's defensive play was brilliant.
Katja Kleine found her groove and moved the ball up and down
the field like a seasoned pro. The Charger's defense
of Renee Montpetit, Emily Cornell and Brittany Miles didn't
allow the Wildcats to connect again on offense. After
50 minutes of play the Charger's lost their first game, but
it was one game that showcased the greatness that is Cary
Academy Field Hockey.

CA @ Saint Mary's 3 - 0
The Chargers
continued their winning momentum after traveling to Raleigh
and beating Saint Mary's 3-0. Sarah Woronoff started the

On a well executed corner play, Catherine Sheffield tallied
the second goal after a pass from Sarah Woronoff. The
second half produced one goal stemming from another
beautiful corner. Dara Schwartz nailed the ball into the
cage after receiving the ball from Catherine Sheffield and
Carrie Weaver. The Chargers nucleus of Katja Kleine,
Elisabeth Sheffield and Heather Warner continually made
things happen. Emily Cornell continued her amazingly
strong play in the backfield. The aggressive and
consistent play of defensemen, Shelby Neaville and Renee
Monpetit rarely allowed the ball in the circle. Mimi Fuchs
and Emily Bisset's fierce presence awarded both another
shut-out.

After 45 minutes of play the game ended in a tie of 0-0.

made her presence known. The flawless stick work of
Renee Montpetit, Shelby Neaville and Sarah Woronoff allowed
minimal shots on goal. Elisabeth Sheffield, Katja
Kleine and Catherine Sheffield applied constant pressure to
a tiring DA team. Heather Warner, Courtney Berger, Dara
Schwartz and Carrie Weaver kept the defense on their toes.
A big thanks to Elizabeth Trent and Grace Martini for
helping fill in the gaps. Goalkeepers, Emily Bisset
and Mimi Fuchs continued their solid performance in the

CA @ Chapel Hill High School 1 - 1
The Chargers
faced a strong opponent in the Chapel Hill Tigers last
night. A stroke called in the first half gave the
Chargers a scoring opportunity. Shelby Neaville lifted
the ball beautifully toward the cage, but the Tiger's
goalkeeper was quick with her glove. Both teams were
scoreless at half time, but the Tigers connected early in
the second. This was the first goal the Chargers
allowed this 2007 season. Despite the 1-0 score, the
Chargers rallied and began an offensive drive down the
field. In the final ten minutes of the game Katja
Kleine and Heather Warner moved the ball into the Tiger's
circle to find an open Dara Schwartz on the post. The
game ended in a tie of 1-1. It was a great game, one
that will be remembered for a long time.
