CA hosts Saint Mary's School 34 - 46
The Lady Charger’s were defeated by St. Mary’s 34-46 ending
their regular season. The team came out ready for battle as
they went down in the first quarter by four points. Then in
the second quarter, the team was unable to stop St. Mary’s
inside game, fouling them and placing them on the line. St.
Mary’s had six opportunities at the line in the second
quarter scoring four of those six points. Overall, St.
Mary’s went to the line 13 times during the course of the
game and converted 14 points from the line winning the game
for their team. Dara Brown was the leader for the Lady
Charger’s in scoring and rebounding with a career high 17
points and 12 rebounds. Other leaders were Kelsey Lee with 6
points and 6 assists, Jackie Lee added 4 points, and Jackie
Bennett contributed 4 points and five hustle plays. The Lady
Charger’s end their season with a 4-22 record that does not
reflect the effort and dedication of those who stepped on
the court night after night to represent Cary Academy

CA @ Forsyth Country Day School 21 - 80
The Lady Charger’s traveled down the
long highway to face a lost 21-80 at Forsyth. The team
showed up to play from their invasion in the first half
loosing the quarter 6 to 9. Then out of no where, the team
blacked out not remembering how to play basketball, loosing
the next 3 quarters 15 to 71. The dazed Lady Charger’s
showed no effort, desire, or enthusiasm as they half way
walked up and down the court in a trans. As I watched on and
tried to coach, I realized the bus ride confused them of the
space ship ride they had from a previous abduction. Oh how
the tables turned tonight. Maybe it was from their long
confused journey or it could have been from a lack of heart.
Who knows what will happen on Friday night as the team steps
onto Ravenscroft’s court. Hopefully, between the running,
drills, and heart to hearts, they will find some intestinal
fortitude to return to our normal Lady Charger’s.

CA hosts Ravenscroft 59 - 65
Cary Academy Lady Charger’s lost to
Ravenscroft 59-65. The Lady Charger’s played a great game
against Ravenscroft out scoring them in the first quarter
18-15. Then in
the second quarter Ravenscroft out scored the Lady Charger’s
21 to 6. The
team showed a great defensive effort against the team in the
second half but was unable to undo the deficit from the
second quarter.
Ashleigh Crutcher scored 24 points, 11 rebounds and Dara
Brown contributed 16 points to lead the Lady Charger’s.
Kelsey Lee led the Lady Charger’s with 11 assists and paced
the team in a close victory. The Lady Charger’s continue to
build on the lessons from prior games and apply what it
takes to capitalize a win.

CA hosts Durham Academy 26 - 54
The Lady Charger’s lost against DA
26-54. The team started out in the first half playing
aggressive defense and staying with DA’s team.
The score at halftime was 23-27. Then DA came out
shooting three point shots one after another causing the
defense of the Lady Charger’s to fall apart. The Lady
Charger’s just did not have it in them to step up and play
the type of defense it takes to shut down a great offensive
team. The team
was led by Ashleigh Crutcher with 8 points and Kelly
Andrejko with 6 points.
The Lady Charger’s lack of defensive stance flowed
over into their offensive flow, resulting in them scoring
only three points in the entire second half.
The team that showed up to start the game in the
first half were left in the locker room at halftime. They
were captured and placed in captivity by men from out of
space who invaded our locker room.
Hopefully, the team will be returned before the game
on Friday night and we can get rid of the pesky invaders. If
anyone sees or hears from them through telepathic powers
please call me.

CA @ Saint Mary's 44 - 30
The Lady Charger’s won against St.
Mary’s on Saturday 44-30.
The team came out defensively ready to battle as they
took the floor.
Alex Hammer led the team in the first quarter with 4 points
and then in the second quarter contributed 4 more points.
This allowed the Lady Charger’s to go into half time
leading 20-17. Then the game shifted in favor of St. Mary’s
as they scored the first 4 points starting the third
quarter. Yet, Jackie Lee would not hear of it as she went on
a scoring tangent with 6 points, defensively with some
steals, and leading the breaks converting off fast breaks
from her sister Kelsey Lee.
Jackie would go on to score a game high 16 points
leading the Lady Charger’s into a well deserved victory.
It was a time in the fourth quarter that we would
loose our composure but the team did a great job regaining
it and pulling out a win.
The team showed another great effort and displayed
what teamwork can do for a team.
Keep up the great work Lady Charger’s and continue to
play as a unit.

CA hosts North Raleigh Christian Academy 40 - 44
The Lady Charger’s lost to NRCA on
Friday night 40-44. Even though the score reads as a lost
the effort the Lady Charger’s displayed showed promise and
potential. The
game started out somewhat even as the Charger’s went into
the locker room at half time down by 3 points. Yet, this
would not stop them from giving a great effort in the second
half without our two best rebounders.
Kelly Andrejko stepped up and pulled down 12 boards
and contributed 6 points and Kelsey Lee led them team in a
spectacular display of shooting with 16 points.
Jackie Bennett also contributed with 7 points and
some great defensive hustle.
Overall, the team played well together proving they
could play as a unit.
The lessons the team is learning along the way are
finally being applied from game to game.

The Lady Charger’s won their game

poor passing and turnovers by the Panther’s team.
Kelsey Lee and Jackie Bennett led the team in a
defensive stance with a total of 13 steals which were
converted into points for the team.
In the second half Ashleigh Crutcher led the team in
scoring with 12 points and 8 rebounds, she finished the game
with 19 points and 14 rebounds.
Jackie Bennett contributed 10 points and Kelly

great win for the Lady Charger’s and their team efforts
continue to flourish.

January 8, 2008
CA @ North Raleigh Christian Academy 49 - 47
The Lady Charger’s traveled to NRCA
where they capitalized in a win 49-47.
The Lady Charger’s came out with intense defense,
which led to costly turnovers for their opponents, executing
and scoring. In
the first half the team fought to stay alive on the
offensive end being led by Jackie Lee who scored 8 of the
teams 15 points.
The team effort on defense caused the NRCA team to shy away
from their best shooter.
The Lady Charger’s went on to break the pressure
defense their opponents threw at them resulting in them
calling off
their pressure. Dara Brown received the hustle award with
her 15 rebounds and 10 points that she added to her teams
performance and Jackie Bennett would receive the defensive
award. Jackie Lee led the team overall with 15 points as she
continued to stay on fire and execute a 4 point play off of
a foul on a three pointer. The game was a nail biting event
as the teams went back and forth in scoring and tying
throughout the game. With .3 seconds left on the clock the
referees tried to give NRCA one last opportunity to beat the
Lady Charger’s. Yet, their fugal attempt was exonerated by
the Lady Charger’s defensive stance.
Overall, the entire team contributed to the Lady
Charger’s well deserved win after a stellar performance as a
team.

CA @ Cape Fear Academy 33 - 38
The Lady Charger’s traveled to
Wilmington were they lost 33-38.
The Lady Charger’s came out in a frenzy making poor
decisions and costly turnovers in the game.
This would prove to be their demise as they fought to
be in the game during the second half.
In the second half they were able to gain their
composure and start making better decisions with the ball.
The team could not find an offensive rhythm and allowed two
of Cape Fear players to score 30 of their 38 points.
The Lady Charger’s decided they wanted to play their
own style of game which resulted in poor communication from
the bench to the floor. After a time out and a discussion of
leadership the Lady Charger’s decided to play the game the
coaches were dictating.
Once again youth is being exhibited from the Lady
Charger’s and their desire to be individuals instead of a
team. Qualities
that will be formulated with experience from game play
throughout this season. The hustle award went to Kelsey Lee
and the Defensive Award went to Morgan Joyner.

breaking team in the first quarter but lost their composure

The Lady Charger’s played great defense but just
could not stop the Southern Durham team from out running
them down the court.
The leaders for this game were Kelsey Lee with 10
points and Dara Brown with 7 rebounds.
Overall the entire team gave a great effort on
defense but could not match the points of their opponents.

December 18, 2007
CA @ Grace Christian 52 - 57
The Lady Charger’s fell to Grace
Christian 52-57.
The Lady Charger’s came out strong against Grace Christian
in the first half 20-14. The team’s chemistry finally
evolved into a beautiful first half effort taking the lead
early. There
were several missed lay ups that caused the scoring to
decrease. Grace
Christian’s, center, came out on fire in the third quarter
leading her team scoring nine points to catch up.
A lack of defensive effort in the 2nd half
did not help the scoring change for the Lady Chargers.
The team fought hard, boxed out, and pushed hard yet
the small mistakes resulted in having the short end of the
stick. Kelsey Lee was the leading scorer of tonight’s game
with 13 points and 7 steals, Dara Brown had 11 points and 10
rebounds, and Marcela Lima had 9 points.
The Lady Charger’s will continue to try and find the
chemistry for both halves of their game play.

CA vs. Cary Christian Academy 34 - 58
The Lady Charger’s lost against Cary
Christian Academy on Friday 34-58.
The team hung in the game the first half 14-19 and
then ran out of steam in the second half.
It is really difficult to beat teams when we only
score thirty points or more.
Holding a team to a low score on defense can not make
up for our lack of scoring on the other half of the court.
As a team we have been working on shooting and the
players being more comfortable with scoring.
The age of the team is evident when there is a fear
to shoot the ball and play hard defense against a team.
The Lady Charger’s will continue to work on the
fundamentals of their game that are lacking from a Varsity
program. The
leader’s of tonight’s game were Dara Brown and Jackie
Bennett both with nine points, and Kelsey Lee with eight.

CA vs. Wake Christian Academy 32 - 33
The Lady Charger’s lost
tonight against Wake Christian 32-33.
The Lady Charger’s came out on fire playing tough
defense causing their opponent to turn the ball over.
Dara Brown scored the teams first 9 points putting
the Lady Charger’s ahead in the first quarter.
Then she scored another 4 in the second quarter
placing her team ahead at half time 22-17.
The teams collective defense in the second quarter
held Wake Christian to 3 points going into halftime.
The team was then out scored in the third quarter 11
to 0, forcing them to make up scoring in the fourth quarter.
The team fell short in their efforts to outscore Wake
Christian lapsing into a freeze in their offensive scoring.
The Lady Charger’s just were not able to make up the
11 to 0 deficit from the third quarter.
Yet, the team came out focused, aggressive, and
willing to sacrifice their bodies.
Dara Brown took a blow to the head by the opponent
and others were battered under the basket.
The team took a licking but they kept on ticking and
playing hard the entire game.
With the exertion the Lady Charger’s are displaying
every game, it is only a matter of time before the wins come
rolling in. The nuclear energy the team illustrates will
soon provide the electricity to ignite the wins that dwell
within the Lady Charger’s.
Dara Brown led in scoring with 15 points 9 rebounds
and the team led in hustle and heart.
Come out and support the Lady Chargers as they play
Cary Christian on Friday night.

CA vs. South Granville High School 40 - 57
The Lady Charger’s stepped on their
home court tonight after being on the road, losing 40-57
against South Granville.
The Charger’s started off the game with
tenacious defense which lead to them leading 12-10 in the
first quarter. They held on and kept fighting in the second
quarter which lead to a 25-25 half time tie.
Dara Brown gave great efforts on defense which lead
to offensive rebounds allowing her to convert on several
occasions. Kelly
Andrejko also contributed to crashing the boards and making
sure to score against the aggressive South Granville team.
The teams efforts tonight were
worth a thousand words as the Lady Charger’s pushed
as hard as they could. In the fourth quarter there were four
minutes the team went cold and could not push any longer
physically. The
team had a stellar performance pulling down 24 rebounds
tonight with 12 of them going to Dara Brown.
Dara Brown lead the team in scoring with 15 points
and Kelly Andrejko with 11 points and 9 rebounds.
So far this has been the best effort the Lady
Charger’s have given against an opponent. The team will
continue to work on fundamentals that amount to big plays in
the games.

CA @ Cary Christian School 38 - 63
The Lady Charger’s traveled to Cary
Christian on last night loosing 38-63.
The Lady Charger’s had an excellent first half
causing turnovers and bad decisions for Cary Christian.
In the third quarter the team came out of the locker
room on fire and tied with Cary Christian 28 to 28. Then
fatigue set in and the team lost their composure making
hasty decisions and throwing away the ball. It did not help
that the Lady Charger’s missed 27 free throws and had 31
turnovers for the entire game.
Kelsey Lee led the team with 11 points and Dara Brown
helped with 9 points and 8 rebounds.
The Lady Charger’s play at home on Friday against
South Granville.

CA @ Wesleyan Christian Academy 27 - 66
The Varsity Lady Charger’s played
against Wesleyan on Friday night loosing 27-66.
The Wesleyan team is a seasoned team and a much more
experienced team than we were on Friday night. Yet, the Lady
Charger’s held their composure and tried to make a run in
the first half. In the second half Wesleyan started their
starters with a 13-37 advantage over our team pounding our
team on the boards. There was no letting up by Wesleyan’s
team as they half court pressed our team the entire game.
The Lady Charger’s team was able to take lessons from
the game and apply them for their future game play.
The team was lead by Kelsey Lee with 13 points and
with Dara Browns 8 rebounds.
The team plays Greensboro Day School on tomorrow at
their place. Come out and support the team in its efforts.

CA @ Greensboro Day School 35 - 18
The Varsity Lady Charger’s played
against Greensboro Day School on Saturday winning 35-18.
They were able to apply some game lessons learned on
Friday night into this game.
In the first quarter the Lady Charger’s played
intense defense causing the other team to fumble passes
leading to fast breaks for the Charger’s.
Later in the game the Lady Charger’s placed more
pressure on the other team and executed their game play on
offense. The
team was lead by Kelsey Lee with 12 points and Dara Browns
13 rebounds. The
team as a whole played great defense and team basketball.
The team finally understood what it meant to play
intense defense and the importance of communication on the
court.

CA @ Word of God Christian Academy 39 - 59
The Varsity Lady Charger’s fell to Word
of God 36-59 last night.
The team started off a bit intimidated allowing Word
of God to jump out to a 18-7 lead in the first quarter.
Once the ladies settled down into their game play
they were able to execute the plays and close the gap before
half time by 14 points.
Yet, in the third and fourth quarters Word of God
came out stronger, faster, and more driven than the Lady
Charger’s. We
were unable to get into a rhythm during the course of the
game which drove our team to shot low percentage shots,
throw away the ball, and get out rebound. This is a young
team and their confidence at this point is the only thing
stopping them from having a successful season.
The team was lead by Kelsey Lee and Dara Brown with
both 9 points.
Dara Brown also pulled down 10 boards and had 4 blocked
shots leading our team in defensive and hustle play.
The team travels to Greensboro on tomorrow to face
Wesleyan Christian Academy.

CA vs. Trinity Christian Academy 32 - 52
The Varsity Lady Charger’s lost against
Trinity Christian Academy 32-52. The Lady Charger’s gave a
good effort against the team in the first half of the game.
They are a young team and have a lot to learn this
season. Team

are working on this season.
The team leaders for tonight were Kelsey Lee with 11
points and Dara Brown with 7 points and 8 rebounds.

excellence. The team lost the game tonight on the boards,
fatigue, and mental mistakes.
